Try 32 bit next time. Also, it bugged sometime, try not to move the mouse or to press the keys while screen is turning off, I had problems with screen blinking “On-Off-On-Off” rapidly, and it’s almost impossible to fix that without a hard reboot. I had a N laptop with that fancy “turn off the screen” button too, and on Win10 it started working after I installed Quickset for Windows 7 from Dell’s website.
